Museum Members’ Farewell Celebration for the Deli Exhibition

Members of the Museum are invited to a closing celebration to say goodbye to the exhibition, “I’ll Have What She’s Having”: The Jewish Deli, before it closes on Sunday, September 1.

Join us in our pop-up Member’s Lounge for a fun, delicious day celebrating the Jewish deli. Go behind the scenes in a gallery talk, enjoy shop savings, test your deli knowledge (+ win prizes), discover the history of rye bread, and more!

Access to the exhibition and celebration is free for Members. Non-members may access the exhibition by purchasing exhibition tickets.

To become a Member, starting as low as $36, please join online today, or at the Museum on Sunday, and enjoy the fun.

Learn how the exhibition was installed and about the preparations and research conducted to include stories of local delis. Discover the mid-century deli heyday through the objects on display in an insightful gallery talk.

Reminisce with other Museum Members and test your knowledge of Jewish deli culture, from its history to contemporary news, pop culture, and more. Multiple chances to play and win!

In Conversation: Michaele Weissman
Author of The Rye Bread Marriage
Weissman’s memoir/culinary history of rye bread tells the story of a marriage that unites two very different people, both with roots in rye-bread-loving Eastern Europe. Learn about the evolution of rye bread and how it became the iconic bread for Jewish delis in the 20th century.
