Whether your Christmas Day traditions involve Chinese food, holiday movies, or service projects, we have it all and more. Enjoy classic traditions and make new ones with drop-in activities and projects for visitors looking to learn, play, and give back.

Chinese Food and a Movie:

POW POW, an award-winning kosher and plant-based Asian eatery, will offer a modest menu of Chinese food, including a deli roll-inspired egg roll.

An American Tail (1986), an animated musical-dramedy, is a nostalgic favorite of family audiences. The story’s portrayal of Feivel Mouskevitz’s immigration hopes and challenges is balanced with humor, strong family bonds, and its signature song, “Somewhere Out There.”

Activities include:

  • Explore the ongoing exhibitions through the lens of a holiday themed exhibition guide
  • Visit the special exhibition LGBTJews in the Federal City before it closes Sunay, January 4 (Gallery guides are available for family audiences. Admission is included in the price of a ticket.)
  • Record a family story and add it to the Museum’s Oral History Archive
  • Write holiday cards that we’ll send to the senior residents of Charles E. Smith Life Communities
  • Bring canned food donations and assemble laundry kits for DC neighbors in need
  • Curl up with a good book in a reading nook and participate in our leave-a-book, take-a-book swap
  • Enjoy the nostalgia of classic films in the Community Action Lab
  • Snap and print a photograph at our photobooth and decorate a custom frame to preserve the memory
